It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Maude Francis (nee Dominie) announce her peaceful passing, with her loving family by her side, at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL at the age of 92 years. Born in Harbour Le Cou, NL. Maude was the daughter of the late William and Jemima Dominie (née Janes).She was also predeceased by her husband, James Francis; her brothers, Edgar, Reginald (Bessie), Walter, and Gerald Dominie; her father and mother in-law, George and Sarah Francis; son’s in-law; Gerald Ingram and Henry Maidment: brother in-law, Hiram Keeping, and sister in-law, Mable Dominie.
With so many loving memories Maude leaves behind her children, Catherine Dominie of Toronto, ON, Sarah (Berkley) Lawrence of Carbonear, NL, Shirley Ingram of Port aux Basques, NL, Jeffery (Donna) Francis of Port aux Basques, NL, Dianne Maidment of Ottawa, ON, and Lewis Francis of Halifax, NS; grandchildren, Troy (Krista) Ingram, Jonathon (Marilou) Ingram, Tammy (Scott) Kettle, Todd Francis, Cory (Ann Marie) Maidment; great-grandchildren, Emily (Jake) Francis, Liam and Adele Ingram.
She will also be missed by her sisters and brothers; Augustus in AB, Cecil (Ann) in NS, Winston (Mable) in NS, Judy (Ervin) Francis of Harbour Le Cou and Shirley Keeping of Burnt Islands; sisters in-law. Trudi and Barbra Dominie; plus very large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Maude always had either a pair of knitting needles in her hands or the DownHomer magazine. When she wasn’t knitting socks or baby caps, she was reading or doing her crossword puzzles. She loved a good game of 120’s and she never missed her NTV evening news hour watching all the Birthdays and Anniversaries.
Friends and family are welcome to visit on Friday, January 26th and Saturday January 27th from 7:00-9:00 PM at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, January 28th, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Grand Bay, NL, officiated by the Rev. Faye Coffin. Internment will follow at St. Pauls Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill, TCH. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maude’s memory may be made to a the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre.
