Passed away at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Peterborough, on Saturday, January 06, 2024. Philip was born on a day no one could ever forget, Remembrance Day, November 11th, 1981. He was the beloved son of his mother, Nancy, [predeceased] and the proud father of Edward. He was also the delight of his Grandpa Ted and Grandma Eleanor, and for many years he was the loving spouse of Jacqueline Fi [Burt]. He loved spending time with his cousins, James [Tira], Clifford, and Donald [Marnelli] He was also greatly loved by his aunts, Deborah [& Uncle Don], Rosemary and Beverley. As well as Uncle Rick and Aunt Joy [both predeceased] He made many friends at Highland Crossroads, as well as the Church in Toronto where his grandparents attended, and not to be forgotten are the many friends he made when he lived on Esterbrooke Avenue in Toronto. He maintained those friendships over many years. He was always quiet and gentle and never put himself forward but knew an astounding amount of facts about many different subjects. He had a huge heart and was very rarely quick to anger. He tried to treat everyone fairly. He was also very particular and methodical giving full attention to the tiniest detail while working on any project. He was well travelled before settling down in Haliburton County, travelling to Singapore at a very young age with his grandparents, visiting his aunt in the Cayman Islands, and travelling to both the East, (Newfoundland) and West (British Columbia) coasts of Canada. He was an avid collector and a member of an international online Transformers community. He also loved his pets, Shadow (and Piggy) and contributed to helping lost dogs and dogs searching for their forever homes (recently his Facebook page was all posts about lost dogs around Haliburton County and dogs looking for forever homes) In recent years was becoming an accomplished tattoo artist. He had just started his new job in December which he enjoyed immensely and was looking forward to a future there. Sadly, he contracted a very virulent form of pneumonia, and it rapidly assaulted his lungs before preventative action could be taken. We thank the doctors and staff of both Haliburton Hospital and Peterborough Regional Health Centre for all their efforts to save his life. They were a great team in both places. However, this was something that couldn’t be transformed and there was no magic shield of protection. We give thanks to God for what we had. Philip’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Harcourt Community Chapel (1054 Harcourt Road, Harcourt0 on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. followed by cremation. As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Canadian Cancer Society – Relay for Life would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to M.G. Daly Funeral Home, Maynooth.
