Obituary
NICKERSON, Maryann – 83, The family of the late Maryann (Foote) Nickerson, resident of Bayside Home, Barrington, formerly of Clam Point, sadly announce her passing on November 24, 2023 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Maryann was born, in Lockeport, April 4, 1940 to the late Joseph Scott and Ethel Jean (Conrad) Foote. Maryann provided a loving childhood for her four children, full of memories of vacations, the beach, and wintertime fun. She was a good wife to her husband Layton, and they tended Buggy’s Shop together for many years. Her grandchildren were the hi light of her day whenever they dropped by the store to pick out treats and she spent many hours talking on the phone and video chatting with her great grandchildren when they came along. . She enjoyed her summer camping trips whether far away or at Emerson’s campground with her friends. She always baked for others in the community every Christmas. She especially loved making jars of pickled beets and mustard pickles every year. She loved her animals and there was never a time there wasn’t one sitting on her lap while she rested or close by her in the kitchen as she worked. She also enjoyed watching the birds and identifying each one as they came to her feeders. She was a member of the Stoney Island United Baptist Church and taught Sunday school there for many years. She is survived by her children; David (Janie), Jeanne (Michel), Paula (Randell) and Darren (Sam); sister, Shirley Morash and brother-in-law, Brian Townsend; grandchildren, David (Kristie), James (Jenn), Megan (Kayle), Eddie (Crystal), Evan (Kate), Nichole, Scott, Jacob (Alicia); and seven great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Layton; brother, Roger; sister, Sharon; son in law Robbie. The family would like to thank VON Tri County for allowing her to stay in her home as long as possible. Also, the staff of Roseway Hospital, the staff of Surf Lodge and the staff of Bayside Home for all their wonderful care for the last few years. And finally, the Yarmouth ER for providing peace in her final hours and comfort to the family. There will be a visitation from 1:15 – 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 13, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm from the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to VON Tri County, Bayside Home or a charity of your choice.
