VAN DONGEN, Mary Lynne (nee Radigan) July 14, 1948 – April 22, 2023 – Passed away in her home, surrounded by her husband and children on Saturday April 22, 2023 at the age of 74. Beloved wife of 55 years to Bill Van Dongen, mother to their loving sons Cory Van Dongen (Karen) and Robert Van Dongen (Yuri). Grandma is a name she used with great pride and cherished dearly for her grandchildren Collin and Keiren. She is predeceased by her parents James and Hazel Radigan. Mary is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she treasured. Mary was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario and she spent the majority of her career working at Oakwood Park Lodge Nursing Home for over 20 years, taking great pride in preparing meals for the residents. She went on to her role as Office Manager in support of her husband Bill to help run their family business, Optic-light, for many years. Mary was an active member of the community, having held the positions of treasurer of the Celtic Club and President of the Big Brother and Big Sister Association of Niagara Falls for several years, an organization that was very close to her heart. It is here where she met her ‘little sister’ Dawn Bryant and where a life-long friendship began. Mary watched as she grew from a young girl to the person she is today and couldn’t be more proud. She had such a big heart that extended to anyone she met in life that needed a helping hand. Mom, we love you and will miss you forever, may you now rest peacefully. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls.
