Mary Susan Metatawabin (nee Sutherland), born on December 2,1961 in Fort Albany.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Susan’s sudden passing on September 5, 2023
Beloved partner and best friend of John Gagnon, who stood by each other through thick and
thin. Adored mother of Xavier Metatawabin, predeceased by daughter Angel Metatawabin.
Daughter of Joseph Sutherland of Attawapiskat and Josephine Sutherland of Weenusk (both deceased). Treasured sister of James, Angela, Linda, Margaret, Francis, Rosalie, Sandra, Michael, Agnus, Leo and Elizabeth.
Loved by numerous nieces and
nephews and many extended family and friends.
Susan was a devoted member of her family, and her passing leaves a void in the hearts
of those who knew her. She will be remembered for her big heart, her infectious laughs, and her generous caring nature.
We are grateful for the memories and the love and laughter that Susan brought into our lives, and we will always cherish them. She would love nothing more than to be fondly remembered while listening to Amazing Grace which she often would sing in Cree.
There will be a service on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 11-2pm at Cardinal Funeral homes, 366 Bathurst Street.
Rest in peace, Susan. You will be missed.
