MARY MURIEL CAREY
Florence, On Wednesday, March 1, 2023, our beautiful mother was welcomed with many open arms through the gates of heaven. It eases our pain to know Ma is happy to be in the loving arms of those she has not seen for a long time.
Ma was born January 24, 1935, to the late Janie (Cormier) and George Long in Joggins, Nova Scotia. She settled in Bras d’Or where Ma met, fell in love, and married Robert Joseph Carey bringing eight children into their world. A stay-at-home wife and mother enabled Ma to keep things clean, organized, and hone her craft of creating the best homemade food anyone could ever eat. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her girls, Gloria Confiant, Verna (Bernie) Carey, Rossie (Peter) Forrest, and Nancy (Leroy) Pyke, daughter-in-law, Sharon Carey, son-in-law, Donnie Reashore and a special niece, Judy Jessome who was the best caregiver to Ma. Her grandchildren, Tracy, Jody, Gerry, Curtis, Jason, Janine, Rae, Keith, M.J., Cory, Kenneth, Kyle, Rickey, and Jenna. Her great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Bernie, Ameila, Nicholas, Landon, Ainsley, Owen, Ellie, Charlotte, Shelby, Ellie Mae and William.
She was predeceased by her husband Bobby, sons, Kenny, Ernie, and Rickey, her daughter, Pammy, and son-in-law, Ernie Confiant. She was the last surviving member of her siblings, Esther Jessome, Sarah Day, Dorothy Carey, and Emerson Long.
Following Ma’s wishes, a Mass of Christian Faith will take place at Holy Family Parish (Hall) on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 11:00 with Father Fabian officiating. A lunch will follow. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
