BURKE, Mary “Jackie” Jacqueline (nee Laton)
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we say goodbye to a wonderful person. Early Tuesday morning on February 20th, 2024, Jackie quietly passed away. She will be remembered as a kind-hearted, devoted, loving person. Jackie will be missed by Jack who was the love of her life. Jackie always made time for her family and felt family time was of the utmost importance. She was the mother of Christine (the late Kevin), Steve (Teresa), James (the late Suzanne), the late Paddye, and Peter (Jennifer). Jackie’s 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren have precious memories of the time she spent with them. Jackie had a very close bond with her siblings the late Don (the late Precilla, the late Hazel), Doris (the late Paul), the late Ernie (Pat), and Lillian (Jim). She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Jack and Jackie were married for over 60 years. They have many fond memories together. Laughing together over their favourite tv shows, to adventures on the road heading to visit family. Jackie’s family will remember her for the kindness she always showed and her devotion to them. Over the years she worked as an Xray technician, volunteered at Jackson Creek Retirement Residence and was a CWL member. Always the best dressed person in the room she later enjoyed a career in women’s fashion. Moving into a managerial role she became well respected by her coworkers and valued customers. Jackie was an avid reader and couldn’t go by a used bookstore without looking inside. A special thank you to Fairhaven Long Term Care for the compassion and care they gave to Jackie. Friends will be received at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be at The CATHEDRAL OF ST. PETER-IN-CHAINS on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Following the funeral please join Jackie’s family at Highland Park Funeral Centre for a lite lunch and to share memories of Jackie.
