Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, NL at the age of 88 years. .
She was predeceased by her husband Don and her parents Michael & Mary Philpott, her brothers: James Philpott (Greta), John Philpott, Andy Philpott, Ben Philpott (Doreen) and sisters: Catherine Baggs (Fred), and Susan Keough (Andy), also her in laws, Albert Lush, Marjorie Lush, Eugene Lush, Clara Lush and Ray Lush.
Leaving to mourn with loving memories her daughter Judy, grandson Jared (Alexandra) and granddaughter Samantha (Murillo), her sister Hilda Ward, her brother Sam Philpott (Marina) and sister-in-law’s Eliza Lush and Phronie Lush, brother-in-law Cec Lush as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was born and raised in Plate Cove East, Bonavista Bay. She moved to Gander for her first job at Goodyears Canteen. She spent her working life in clothing retail, Goodyears, Eaton’s, Peoples and retired from Walmart to spend her retirement years in Eastport with family and friends.
She was an active member of the Catholics Women’s Society, The Red Hat Society and loved her evenings playing cards.
The love of her life was her daughter and her two grandchildren. They were her world!
Thank you to everyone who brought humor to her life and made her smile. Special thanks to the staff of Oram’s Bethesda who took time to show her that she was cared for and to the staff of James Paton Memorial Hospital (Medical Unit) who went above and beyond to make her final days comfortable.
Visitation will take place at Stacey’s Funeral Home, Gander on Thursday June 13, 2024 from 1-4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday June 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Gander officiated by Father William Hearn with interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
