Mary Rashotte (nee Lee)
Passed away peacefully at Glen Hill Strathaven in Bowmanville on Monday, January 1, 2024. She was born in Bobcaygeon on February 22, 1938 and was the daughter of George Wesley and Margaret(Hickson) Lee. Her family moved to Bowmanville in 1939 and Mary was employed at the Goodyear plant in Bowmanville until 1962. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ernest Rashotte with whom she shared 43 years of marriage. Mary was a member of the original St. Joseph’s Church in Bowmanville since 1939 and Mary and Ernie were one of the first three couples married at the present church on July 18, 1959.
Mary is lovingly remembered by her daughter Deborah Sproul and husband, Russell, and her adored granddaughter, Rachel Sproul, who was her joy in life.
Mary is also survived by her nephew, Larry lee of Belleville, and her nieces, Anne LaJoie of Nepean and Norah Shanque of Toronto. She is also survived by her great-nieces, Amanda MacKenzie(Julia, Kieran and Logan) of belleville and Erin(Gary) Laverdure(Kelli and Kyle) of Nepean.
We would like to thank Mom’s wonderful neighbours, Ralph and Bernice Norton, who were such a help to her. Special thanks also to the staff of Glen Hill Strathaven(Poplar) for their outstanding care of Mom over the last 2.5 years.
Services are to be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Bowmanville on Tuesday, January 9, at 11AM, with visitation one hour prior to the mass. Interment will follow at Bowmanville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society(alzheimer.ca/durham/) would be appreciated.
Mom, I am sure you are already baking in heaven with Dad beside you waiting to lick the spoon.
