Obituary
ALBANO, Mary Alice (nee Hohl) – October 1, 1926 – February 8, 2024- Passed away peacefully at her home, with her loving family by her side, in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late of Carmen (dec 1978). Cherished mother of Peter (Shirley) Albano, Robert (Linda) Albano, and Margaret ‘Maggie’ Jackson. Mary Alice leaves behind a large loving family including 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren (plus 2 on the way). She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and the USA. Pre-deceased by her infant son Peter (1947), her sisters; Irene, Barbara, and Shirley, and by her brothers; Gerald, Bob, and James, as well as her mother, Ethyl Dillon Hohl, her father, James Paul Hohl, and her step-mother, Mary Monahan Hohl. Mary Alice was a strong, loyal, and independent woman who put her family first. She was a role-model and mentor to many. She worked as a housekeeper for many years at St. Andrew the Apostle, St. Thomas More, and St. Thomas Aquinas. Mary Alice was a lifetime member of the Catholic Women’s League for over 60 years and a Service Star recipient. She served as a Brown Owl and Guider for the Girl Guides at St. Andrew the Apostle in Welland. Friends are invited to join the family at PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St., on Monday February 12, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas More Church 6548 Dorchester Road, Niagara Falls. Cremation will follow. The Rite of Committal will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Welland at a later date. In memory of Mary Alice, donations to the St. Thomas More Church or the Niagara Health Foundation would be appreciated by her family.
