August 26, 1928 – June 26, 2024
In her 96th year, Mary passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener on June 26, 2024.
Mary is survived by her son, Michael Willing (Kathy), and daughter, Patricia Townsend (Wayne, deceased 2022). She was a cherished grandmother to Nicole Townsend (Brennon Kaczmarek) and Cara Townsend (Christopher Albertyn), and a proud great-grandmother to Atlas Kaczmarek.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Nellie and Michael Stenpien; brother, Edward Stepien; sister, Sr. Marie Michelle S.S.N.D.; and her husband, Nick Willing, in 1979.
Mary was a loving mother who held her family close. In her younger years, she worked at Marsland Engineering and later at Robinson’s Department Store. During her leisure time, she enjoyed golfing and painting with watercolours, earning awards for her silk paintings of orchids.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Highland Place, where Mary resided for the past two years. The care and support provided by the staff and fellow residents were greatly appreciated.
Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, (519) 749-8467.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
