Obituary of Marlie Munro
September 21, 1933 – June 23, 2023
It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Marilyn in her 90th year.
Born in Almonte, Ontario, Marilyn (Marlie to her friends and family) grew up in Carleton Place, living with her Godfrey grandparents during WWII while her father was away in Europe.
She, her parents and brother moved to Arnprior in the 1950’s where she attended business college.
As an adult, when she was not working at the military training base in Arnprior, as an administrator, Marlie enjoyed having cats, reading, playing golf and cards, and travelling around the World with friends.
Never having married, she was a much-loved aunt and sister-in-law, and faithful friend to so many who knew her.
Predeceased by her father Richard Rhind Munro; mother Mary Frances (Godfrey) Munro, and brother Donald Godfrey Munro. She is survived by her sister-in-law Wallene (Michel) Munro; nieces Stacey (Jacques Duret) and Tani (Lawrence Bousquet), and her great-niece Briana Duret (Shayne) and great-nephews, Greg Duret (Melissa) and James Duret as well as her great-great-niece Ainsley Duret.
Thank you to the wonderful nurses and care staff at Carp Commons Retirement Village and Dr. Janice Yau for making it possible for Marilyn to spend her last days in her home.
The family requests that donations be made to your local animal rescue group in support of a charity dear to Marilyn’s heart.
Marlie’s final care has been entrusted to the
Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior
where friends are invited to an informal drop-in to take place on Thursday, July 20th from 1 to 3 p.m.
Refreshments will be served.
Private interment Albert Street Cemetery, Arnprior.
