GOMEZ, Marjorie Marlene Christina (nee MacLean) passed away peacefully at Northland Pointe in Port Colborne on Sunday, February 4th, 2024, at the age of 84.
Marlene joins in Heaven her parents John and Mona MacLean, her brothers Donald MacLean (Tonine), Robert MacLean (Kathy), and Owen MacLean (Jane), and she reunites with her infant daughter Jennifer Gomez.
Marlene was a loving wife of 58 years to David Leslie Gomez, and devoted mother to her daughter Monica Laurisch and her son-in-law Tony, her son David Gomez and her daughter-in-law Wendy, and a beloved grandmother to Callum and Lauren Gomez and T.J. and Alexia Laurisch. As the third child and eldest daughter from a large Nova Scotia family, Marlene also leaves behind her siblings John MacLean (Josephine), Mona Landberg, Danya Webster (Dave), Audrey Paulson (Ted), Marion Burton (Willie), Cliff MacLean (Alynn), and Karen Danks (Steve). Her many nieces and nephews will miss their cherished “Aunt Grandma” Marlene.
Marlene lived her life selflessly sharing her love and kindness with her family, friends, and everyone in her community. With her caring and empathetic nature, Marlene was destined for a career in nursing where she could give her compassionate touch to the sick or injured, with an extra dose of love for the babies and little children. To the very end, Marlene maintained the essence of who she really was despite her battle with Alzheimer’s. Her family will be forever grateful for the kindness, care, and generosity shown to Marlene by the extraordinary team at Northland Pointe.
Let us honour her memory by following her example of living life with an open heart and in a spirit of kindness and generosity.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlene’s memory can be made to Niagara Children’s Centre. The family will receive their friends at the H. L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon followed by a service to celebrate her life in the Cudney Chapel at 12 noon.
