We, the family of Mark Ryan Pentecost, are deeply saddened to announce his passing on Monday, October 7, 2024, in Hospice Cape Breton.
Born April 19, 1985, in Sydney, he was the son of Mark and Laura Lee (Weatherbee) Pentecost.
Mark Ryan loved to spend his days at the garage and walking Meeka and Marley with his daddydoo around Cape Breton’s trails and beaches collecting sea glass. He loved nature and helped our island by cleaning up recyclables everywhere he went, making sure it stayed beautiful. Mark Ryan loved to come home every night to eat supper and watch movies with his mommaroo, who loved him to the moon and back; and always made sure he was taken care of and never left his side when he needed it the most.
He was an amazing uncle to “The Baby” Salerah Bean and “The Kiddos” Jayden, Cadi, and Thomas. Uncle Mark Ryan loved them very much, always making them giggle and smile with his silly faces.
As a kid he would spend his days with his little sis and best friend Nikki who he dearly loved. Together they would hang out with all their mutual friends and go to cblocals concerts, hang out at the “grub” mall and duck park playing hacky sack, skateboarding and snowboarding.
Recently, he enjoyed landscaping with Dennis Wall at Saint Teresa’s Cemetery. He was known to be an honest, hard worker.
Mark Ryan’s passions were listening to music, finding unique collectables, flea markets, skateboarding, comics, dvd’s, cd’s, video games and Marvel and Star Wars movies. He loved to spend all his time with his family, and visiting with his Nanny (Donna Weatherbee).
Mark Ryan loved to make everyone smile and always saw the good in everyone he came across, which is a valuable lesson that he has left to all those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mark is survived by his little sister, Nakita Pentecost (Jeremy Wiggins), Sydney and his niece, Salerah Pentecost, Sydney.
He was predeceased by his aunts, Stacy and Dawn Weatherbee; grandfather, Jimmy Weatherbee; grandfather, Wilfred Pentecost; and grandmother, Mildred (Hill) Pentecost.
The family would like extend a special thank you to “The Aunties”, Doreen, Marie, Rose, and Thelma for always making sure he was taken care of and happy. Thank you to Ann Pentecost for making sure he was well fed and sending all his favourite meals to him, as well as all those who came to visit and brought a smile to his face. Thank you to the staff at Cape Breton Palliative Care and Cape Breton Hospice for all their care. Lastly, a very special thank you to the staff at his house on Beachwood Cresent for making it truly a home for him.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Sydney Memorial Chapel. There will be no visitation or service.
Interment will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County or Crossroads Cape Breton.
