Mark Milton John Hennings was taken suddenly from us on New Years Day 2024. Mark was born on March 5th, 1951 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan to parents Milton Hennings and Florence (Benning) Wylie, he did his early schooling in Star City and Ridgedale where his mother, Florence was a teacher and also in Tempe, Arizona, where MIlton and Florence wintered for a few years due to his father’s asthma. Mark later attended grade 12 and his first-year university at St. Peters College in Muenster. Here, he first started to delve into perhaps his favorite lifelong hobby, weightlifting. Mark then attended the University of Saskatchewan for one year before working for a time in a lumbermill in northern BC and then the oilfields in Alberta. Eventually he decided to come home to farm in Star City alongside his brother Clifford Hennings. This turned out to be maybe his best decision because it led to him meeting Patty Spratt in Star City while washing his truck. The two of them fell in love and were wed on July 23rd, 1982. From this union came three boys who they loved with all their hearts: Andrew (82), Stephen (84) and David (86).
Mark also enjoyed hockey and eagerly got his sons involved in the sport at a young age. He loved coaching and managing his sons’ hockey teams and being at the rink with them.
After several years, Mark slowly decided to step back from farming, instead choosing to rent out his land while still working in farming with the Andrus family, as well as the Tisdale Dehy Plant.
As his children grew Mark was very proud of them and how they found their way through life: Andrew as a skilled golfer, Stephen as a skilled helicopter technician, and David as a courageous soldier in the Canadian military.
As years went by, Mark retired and decided to take it easy, living a quiet life with Patty in Star City. He enjoyed watching Netflix (Yellowstone in particular) as well as YouTube country music videos. For as long as we can remember he had a fairly consistent weightlifting regimen that he enjoyed and looked forward to each day, always journaling his start time, lifts and repetitions. He was known to boil up water for tea often around 4am. He was an avid reader. He enjoyed going for early coffee at A&Ws in either Tisdale or Melfort and was happy to stop and socializewith whomever he ran into, often turning a quick grocery run into a several hours long outing.
Through the years, Mark and Patty made a few trips to see their children and grandchildren in Saskatoon, Alberta, and BC. Mark was most recently looking forward to an upcoming trip to Alberta to watch his grandkids Emerson and Addison play hockey.
He is predeceased by his parents Milton and Florence and stepfather Bill Wylie.
He is survived by his wife Patty, their boys and families Andrew (Cindy); Stephen (Rhiannon) and Emerson, and Addison; David (Jennifer) and Shanna; his brother Clifford and sister-in law Marlene; his niece and nephew Jessica and Gabriel and their families, and many fondly remembered cousins.
