1946-2024
Marion Vivian Greencorn, 78, of Kentville, passed away on
Tuesday, November 26, 2024 in Valley Hospice, Kentville, surrounded by
those she loved. Born in Bridgewater, she was a daughter of the late
Everett Slauenwhite and Marjorie Sanford.
Marion spent 30+ years working at Camp Aldershot in the
kitchen and mess hall. After leaving Camp Aldershot, she spent nine
years with McDonalds from where she retired. Marion was hard working,
caring and would do anything for anybody, especially her family. She
was very giving, making donations and helping out those in need, and
she always made sure her family had the best Christmases. Marion
enjoyed playing Bingo, watching the Young and Restless and game shows.
Marion was also an avid animal lover, especially her pet dogs, Jake
and Princess. Above all else, family was her pride and joy. She loved
them all dearly. When her girls were sick, she would lay with them all
night, and they were honored to be able to return that kindness in her
declining health.
Marion will be deeply missed by her daughters, Brenda
Greencorn, New Minas; Debra Greencorn (Darrell MacLeod), Kentville;
and Marilyn Greencorn (Mike Cleveland), Kentville; brother, David
Slauenwhite, Kentville; sisters, Peggy (Doug) Huntley, Berwick;
Elizabeth Lenihan, Kentville; Edith Tupper, Kentville; and Pamela
Burns (Gary Kerr), New Minas; grandchildren, Tia, Derrick, Tyler,
Charles and Ethan; many great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and
nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her
husband, Curtis Greencorn; brother, Robert; sisters, Paulette
Slauenwhite, Blanche Sawler and Beatrice Slauenwhite, in infancy; and
brothers-in-law, Alton Greencorn and Murry Lenihan.
The family would like to thank Dr. Leigh for the diagnosis,
Dr. Wadden, Dr. Kellie, Dr. Murphy, the VON, all the doctors and
nurses from Victoria General Hospital, Valley Regional Hospital and
Valley Hospice, and Lucy the cat from Hospice, for the exceptional
care mom received.
Cremation has taken place, and visitation will be held from
6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2 in the White Family Funeral
Home, Kentville. A graveside service will take place in Lakeview
Cemetery, Lakeville on Tuesday, December 3 at 2:00 p.m. with Greg
White to officiate.
Donations in memory may be made to Valley Hospice Foundation.
