Marion Stroud of Glovertown, age 97, passed away peacefully at Brookfield hospital on January 9, 2024.
Marion, the second child of 7, was born on Red Island and went to school in Brown’s Arm as her father ran a coastal boat service. As a young lady she moved to Mount Pearl and managed a store for 10% of what she sold. After the second world war Marion met and married veteran Arthur Stroud of Glovertown where they lived and raised their family.
Marion loved to knit socks and blankets for family and friends. She also enjoyed swimming and travelling. She was a passionate card player and would sit at a card table as long as there were others to play with.
Marion was predeceased by her loving husband Arthur, her brothers Alexander, Thomas, Patrick, and Edgar, her sisters Carmel and Caroline, her daughter-in-law Lisa, and her grandchildren Michael and Glen.
Marion will live on in the hearts and memories of her 7 children, Kevin (Rosemary), Barbara (Gerald), Zita, Pat (Boyd), Charmaine (Morris), Yvette (Doug) and Tom (Tiffany), her 14 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
