Our dear Mother, Marion J Noel with family at her side, passed away on December 18, 2023, at 4:14 pm after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born into a family of 11 children during war times and post-war times Marion learned many life lessons that carried through her life. She was predeceased by both of her husbands, Robert Downie Wylie in 1966 and Raymond Noel in 1973. Survived by her sister Beverly Hobden and brother John Clarke.
Left alone at a young age to raise her 6 children Roberta (Rob), Jeffrey (Maureen), Jo-anne (Bill), John, Danielle, and Raymond. She spent many years with family and friends gathered around her kitchen table feeding them with her renowned baking and telling entertaining tales over a cup of tea.
For years she opened up her home to exchange students, soccer teams, families, and many couples. Marion’s House was lovingly named “The Zoo” because of the ever changing and never boring groups of friends, family, and visitors. She loved entertaining and there was always a spot for you at her dinner table.
From driving across Canada solo with 4 children to help run a political campaign, to working as a Chef’s Training assistant at Carson Graham High School, Marion was never one to back down from a challenge in her younger years.
She spent countless hours out in her garden and the beauty of her yard was enjoyed by many.
Throughout the years Marion was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Celina, Merle, Sean, Barrett, Josh, Ben, Jake, Evan, Wyatt, Kyle and Jane.
A huge thank you to the care team at Baille House that watched over Mom for the last few years.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family members at a later date.
Mom, we will miss your smile, your laugh, the smell of baking as we walk in the door. Calling you for recipes we need, someone’s birth date we forgot. But most of all, we will miss the memories we still had to be made.
Marion will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to The Alzheimer Society of BC. in Memory of Marion Noel.
