It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father and Nonno, Mario Novelletto, peacefully with his family by his side on June 30, 2024 at 76 years of age.
Beloved husband of 54 years to Giovanna Novelletto (Nee Zardo). Treasured father to Teresa Dufour (Peter) and Steve Novelletto (Kristen). Adored nonno to Davide and Alessandra Dufour. Mario was the youngest child to Pietro and Teresa Novelletto (Nee Fiorese).
The table has been set with glasses of red wine by Mario’s brothers and sisters waiting his arrival.
Dearest brother of Gilda Dalla Palma (2010) (Angelo 2006), Lidia Grando (2014) (Giovanni 1988), Domenico Giuseppe Novelletto (2007) (Giovanna (nee Saretta), Egido Mario Novelletto (2022) (Filomena (nee Iona) 2017).
Dear brother-in-law to Francesco Zardo (2021), Aldo Zardo (2016), Maria Pia Tedesco (Giovanni 2003), Rina Giuseppina Baggio (Giovanni 2022), Ivano Zardo (2015) (Marissa 2017) and Giovanni Zardo (1945) all of Italy.
Dear uncle of Steno Novelletto (Rose), Ivo Novelletto (2010) (Wendy), Teresa Novelletto (David), Anna Pavia (Dario), Peter Novelletto, Emmanuele Novelletto (Teresa), David Novelletto (Grace) and Paolo Novelletto (Dianna). Mario will bemissed by many nieces & nephews in Italy.
Mario was a passionate welder who immigrated from Casoni, Vincenza, Italy. While visiting his father in 1968 Mario met the love of his life Giovanna Zardo while attending a carnival in 1968. Mario and Giovanna fell in love and on August 30, 1969 he welcomed his bride to be to Windsor, Ontario.
Mario retired as a millwright from Ford Motor Company of Canada on November 30, 2007. Mario was proud of his homeland, Italy, and was a member of the Giovanni Caboto Club since 1982.
A special thank you to the entire team at the Kingsville Neighbourhood of the Villages of St. Clair. During Nonno Mario’s time at the Village they showed him the utmost respect. You had embraced Nonno and his family and treated them like your personal family, providing love and compassion in good times and in bad times. You are all Angels. God Bless each and every one of you.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Society and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 10:00am until time of funeral mass officiated by Bishop Paul Riley at 12:00pm at Families First South Windsor (3260 Dougall Ave. 519-969-5841). Procession to Heavenly Rest Cemetery for entombment to follow.
