It is with great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, that the family announce the passing of our kind, brave, caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Marilyn Irene May Evans. She passed away on April 26 2023, after her courageous fight with Alzheimer’s. She is survived by her brother Arnie and his wife Ann and her sister Nancy as well as her own four children, Greg, Mark, Shaun and Melanie.
Marilyn was born on March 16, 1944, to Stella and Charlie McLeish, in Lindsay. She was educated in Lindsay and spent her working life in a variety of organizations, most recently the Lindsay Daily Post. During her high school years at LCVI, she was a recognized athlete, participating in a number of All Ontario Competitions with her school teams. She was proud of her red, blue and olde gold, LCVI blazer, which had her many athletic awards sewn on it.
Marilyn had the biggest heart and the most beautiful smile. She was fearless and independent, while also sensitive and tremendously compassionate. She loved her four children, Greg & Sandi, Mark & Courtney, Shaun & Anna and Melanie & Steve. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, Jack, Caileigh, Clare, Anastasia, Dechlan and Ellie. As well, she adored her nieces and nephews, Angie & Scott, Julie & Jeff, Shane & Laura, Vanessa & Bryan, Carey Anne & Michael, Christina & Kane, Charlene & Todd and Daniel.
Marilyn, is preceded in death by her grandparents Lewis & Agnes McLeish. Grandma Agnes was very special to her and her parents Charlie and Stella McLeish.
A visitation will be held on Sunday May 7th at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North from 12:00pm until time of Celebration of Life at 1:00pm. Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay to follow.
