Marilyn Ayling Obituary
Marilyn Jean Ayling, spirited soul, sharp dresser, accomplished sewer, passed away peacefully at 82 on April 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn grew up in London, Ontario and worked in the delicatessen for over 35 years. She had a life-long love affair with music, sparkly jewelry, her pool, and Samoyed dogs. Her love of ice cream has been passed down throughout her family, often fondly remembered by her daughter and grandsons. Marilyn’s passion was sewing and she created everything from Barbie clothes, wedding gowns to drapes; being creative was always a part of her life.
Many of her life’s adventures were spent with the love of her life, Ken. They loved travelling together and had many happy years at their Florida home, Port Dover trailer and always settling back to their beloved home in London.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Ken Ayling and parents, Joseph and Alma (Callaghan) Cornelious and her brother Doug Cornelious.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Brenda (Monger) and son-in-law, Tim McDonnell of Stratford; grandchildren, Quintin (Sara) McDonnell, Cullen (Allison) McDonnell, Lance McDonnell (Tatum Weicker), Meagan Warnock and great-grandsons Remco, Marcas McDonnell, Owen Shepard and great-granddaughters, Eva McDonnell, Caileigh, and Julia Shepard.
Marilyn will be missed by her brother Gerald Lane and by her sister-in-law Liz Cornelious and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Also, in keeping with Marilyn’s wishes, a cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place on June 15th, 2024, 1-4pm at 31 Stratford Street, Stratford, Ontario.
Marilyn’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff and volunteers from West Perth Village for caring for, comforting, and supporting her throughout her stay.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the W. G. Young Funeral Home 430 Huron Street, Stratford, ON. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Society Southwestern Ontario and the Canadian Cancer Society through the funeral home.
