With sadness and heavy hearts, we say goodbye to a wonderful, loving, soft spoken woman, Marija (Mara) Pelikan. Marija, passed away peacefully at Macassa Lodge Nursing Home in Hamilton, on June 5th, 2024 in her 90th year. She was preceded in death by her husband Ivan. Cherished mother to sons, Ivica, Vlado, and daughter Jasna, a grandmother to Matthew Pelikan, great-grandmother to Tyler Pelikan. Daughter in laws, Sofia and Heidi. Her kind words and soft infectious smile always made people around her happy, no matter what, she always looked after others before herself. Marija loved to cook, taking care of her family and friends, her passion was gardening. Having beautiful gardens gave her joy. We honour her with a special, yet, simple service as she wanted, that will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 50 Woodlawn Rd., Welland, on June 7th 2024 at 10.30 a.m. Special thanks to Macassa staff for their care and support for nearly 9 years. Also, P.X Dermody Funeral Home staff, a wonderful caring Funeral Director, Cherie, for all arrangements on such short notice, and last, but not least, Dutchman Florist in Stoney Creek, for beautiful flower arrangements.
Mom, You will always be remembered and loved. You taught me everything I know, and I am a strong independent woman because of you.
Rest in Peace, until we meet again.
