Mariette Elizabeth Amirault – age 90 of West
Pubnico, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October
25, 2024, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
Born in West Pubnico, Yarmouth County, NS on January 10,
1934, Mariette was the daughter of the late Stillman Joseph Amirault
and Pauline Virginie (d’Entremont) Amirault.
Mariette left the quaint French Acadian village of West
Pubnico at an early age to seek new adventures. She first worked at
the Thistle Knit in Yarmouth where she made lifelong friendships and
delighted her younger sisters with the most beautiful sweaters, made
locally at the Thistle Knit. A few years later she moved to Toronto
where she began a career first with the Red Cross Blood Transfusion
Dept as Senior Transportation Dispatcher and later with the Canadian
Cancer Society as Senior Transportation Supervisor for Metro Toronto
District.
She returned to her home village of West Pubnico after
retirement where she found new adventures in art and painting. Many of
her paintings were shown at local art galleries including the
Waterfront Gallery in Yarmouth and Le Musee des Acadiens des
Pubnicos.
The oldest of the sisters, Mariette cared for her younger
siblings after our mother passed away. Mariette is survived by her
sisters; Lucille Webb of Vancouver; Doris d’Entremont
(Leroy) of Middle West Pubnico; Shirley d’Entremont of Lower
West Pubnico; Irene d’Eon (Donald) of Middle West Pubnico;
brother, Irvan Amirault of Lower West Pubnico.
Lovingly remembered by her beloved nieces and nephews; Nicole
Maloney (Kevin), great-nieces, Kora and Kinsley of Vancouver; Tanya
d’Entremont (Lennox), great-nieces Grace and Olivia of
Argyle; Kevin d’Eon (Lisa), great-nephews Kayden and Nathan
of Middle West Pubnico; Shannon d’Entremont (Monique),
great-nephews Easton and Bryson of Middle West Pubnico; and Daniel
d’Entremont of Annapolis, NS.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother,
Benedict Amirault.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank her new family
at Pond Du Marais Boarding home where she was cared for with love and
compassion for the last few months.

buried in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Cemetery at a private family
service under the direction of the West Pubnico Funeral Home &
