Stewart, Marie
Passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Monday October 14, 2024 at the age of 102. Beloved wife of the late Herbert. Dear mother of Sandra (the late Morris), Brenda (the late Bruce), and the late Valerie (the late Robert). Grandmother to 8 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Marie was born the youngest of 3 children to Adalene and Herb Taylor. She had an older sister Audrey and Reg the middle child. She grew up on a farm in the Wellington area.
As a student she excelled in spelling, and with a fellow student, won the trophy for her school in the Wellington area spelling bee.
She was active in her community throughout her life, involved in church life as a young person and at Zion United Church for many years. You could often find her in the kitchen at church Strawberry suppers and other events. Attending Bible study, she became known as the «muffin queen».
Her gifting’s of hospitality, serving others, her love for family and her contagious sense of humor has endeared her to us all!
In her later years she has proved to be our hero. No matter what she had to deal with she did it with grace and dignity. Her spirit will always live on in the hearts of her family.
We love you, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Great Great Grandma, Aunt Marie.
Visitation will be held Friday October 18, 2024 from 12-1pm at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home 53 Division Street Bowmanville, with service to follow at 1pm in the chapel.
