Passed away peacefully, with her loving family by her side, on May 18, 2023 at 95 years of age. Predeceased by her parents, Laurentia & Rudolph Ferrari and brother Ralph Ferrari. At Heaven’s Gate, waiting for her, is her cherished younger sister Billie (passing only 12 days prior). Beloved aunt/second Mom of Kerri-Lynn and husband Emerson Valley. Dear Aunt of Denise Ferrari and Michael Ferrari (Sandy). Sister-in law of Alice Ferrari. Adored Great-Aunt/Sissy of Ryan Stephenson (Katarina) and Vanessa Stephenson (Bryce).
Marie was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and pursued a career as an RN at Hotel Dieu Hospital. She was the long-time Head Nurse of the Nursery until it closed. She ended her 40-year career as the assistant head nurse of the Chronic Care Unit. After retirement, Marie was a lucky regular at the bingo hall, playing all night with her sister. She enjoyed a good card game, gardening and chasing the “Blue light specials” at K-mart. Sis enjoyed spending time with her great-niece and nephew, often taking then for sleep overs with “chips & dip” parties. Enticing the kids to church always meant a trip to the Zellers lunch counter.
Special thank-you to her PSW’s from SE Health – Tanya, June, Teddy, KK, Milena, Ola, Sandy G. and Leslie. From Amy’s Helping Hands – Kelly, Rae-Lyn and April. All of their patience and TLC was appreciated. Her family would like to acknowledge Dr. Peter Scarfone and Monique for always giving exceptional care throughout the years. A special thanks to dear friends Tom Holmes and the late Evelyn Delisle, who were always there to help when needed.
Her friends and co-workers would tell you that at work and in life Marie ran a tight ship. Memorial tributes to Street Help or Downtown Mission would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm. Funeral Service on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 11:00 am at Families First, South Windsor, 3260 Dougall Ave. (519-969-5841). Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
