Marie
Eleanor (Fraser) Phillips – 91, formerly of Canning, Kings County,
passed away Wednesday, July 5th, 2023, at
Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born August
19th, 1931, at her family home in Arlington,
the youngest of 11 children to the late Hibbert and Margaret
(Caldwell) Fraser.
In her
earlier years Mom was active in the community. She was a 60 plus year
member of the Canning United Baptist Church and a member of the choir.
She often took part in solos and duets and could regularly be found in
the kitchen working with the ladies’ auxiliary. She has 35
years of service with the Canning Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and
she was a member of the Canning Seniors club. During the summer when
not busy helping Dad in the strawberry field, she enjoyed getting all
the family together for potlucks, often followed by a fun hymn
sing.
She is
survived by her daughter, Ann Cochran (Brian) of Halifax; son, Craig
(Vanessa) of Dartmouth; grandson, Mitchell Cochran (Rachel) and great
grandson, Theo (her pride and joy) of Ontario; and several very
special nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her loving husband of
64 years, John; also, by all 10 of her siblings: brothers, Walter,
Roland, Joe, Lester and Gordie and sisters, Rita, Jessie, Emily,
Evelyn and (her twin) Muriel.
Our
family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and
nurses of Valley Regional Hospital Medical A Unit for the care given
to Mom in her final weeks. ALSO, a huge thank you to Paula and Eric
Morine and staff for the exceptional care they gave Mom in the last
four years. Their extraordinary kindness, compassion and dedication
helped us all feel at home.

Cremation has taken place. There will
be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by tea,
coffee and time with the family, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, July 12, 2023 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
Masks are appreciated. Family burial will take place in the
Jawbone Corner Cemetery, Canard, Kings County. In lieu of flowers,
donations in memory may be made to the MS Society of Canada or the
Kidney Foundation of Canada. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted
to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
