MATTHIES, Marie Anna, 95, of Woodstock passed away peacefully at Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock on Sunday, February 5, 2023.
She was born in Shakespeare on April 18, 1927 a daughter of the late Conrad and Frieda (Malcho) Sippel.
She was a life-long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sebastopol-Tavistock.
Marie married Gordon William Matthies at Sebastopol-Tavistock on June 30, 1945. Gordon predeceased her on July 31, 2016.
She is survived by her three children, Dale (Nancy) Matthies of Goderich, Brenda (Al) Elsdon of London, Wayne (Maggie) Matthies of Fairground (near Lake Erie); eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren.
Marie was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Gordon Krug.
A family visitation was held in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 which was followed by a family graveside service at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Sebastopol-Tavistock. The Rev. Bonnie Schelter-Brown officiated.
