Marian “Mac” Joseph Niedzwiecki
March 4th, 1929 to October 10, 2023
It is with great sadness the children of Mac Niedzwiecki announce his death. Dad died peacefully at Hastings Manor Long Term Care Facility in Belleville, surrounded by his family, at the grand age of 94.
Dad was predeceased by his loving wife, Rosemary. Dear father of six children, including John Niedzwiecki, Anne Dunin (Andrew), Mark Niedzwiecki, Eva-Mary Niedzwiecki, Noel O’Neil (Tracy) and Nicholas O’Neil (Katherine). Grandfather of Didi and Jordan Dunin (Lauren), Danika Niedzwiecki, Jacob O’Neil, Sasha, and Tristan O’Neil. Great grandfather to Beau Dunin. Predeceased by his wife, Rosemary, parents Jacob and Mary Niedzwiecki, and siblings Mary Charron (Niedzwiecki), Frank Niedzwiecki, John Niedzwiecki, Albert Niedzwiecki and Agnes Remme (Niedzwiecki).
Mac was the son of immigrant parents from Poland and was raised on a farm off Brunel Road in Huntsville. As a young man, he made his way to Toronto to find work in the big city, eventually making his way to Trenton, where he met the love of his life, Rosemary O’Neil, at the local Glee Club. There, he got his start at Lange & Fetter Motors, and later established several entrepreneurial endeavors, including Mac’s Esso gas station in Trenton, and a Western Tire franchise in Belleville. He would continue to work in the automotive and building supply industries until his retirement.
Mac, a kind and gentle man, will be fondly remembered by his many family members and friends, notably for his wonderful charm and wit and his great storytelling ability that inevitably started with the phrase “To make a long story short…”. A natural and gifted handy man, Mac built his family’s first house in Wooler, and later extensively renovated their house in Belleville to accommodate his ever-growing family.
A special thanks to all the staff and residents of Hastings Manor for all their help, kindness, and friendship over the last couple of years. A private family interment will be held at Mt Calvary Cemetery.
