It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Marian Agnes Fliss.
Marian passed away suddenly, at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Saturday February 25, 2023 at the age of 85.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years Bill, sons Gary (Joanne) and Doug (Kerry), grandchildren Justin, Daniel, Lyndsie and Matthew, and great-granddaughter Skyler. Marian is survived by her siblings Ron, Grace and Kasandra, sister-in-law Patricia and many nieces and nephews.
Marian and Bill were happiest having their house full of family and friends. In the early years having a pool brought many to their backyard, later ‘carport’ parties were the norm. Always a gracious hostess, Marian ensured all visitors were well fed and had a good time. She often shared fond memories of those times and enjoyed telling stories of the hijinks that took place.
Marian was well known in Hamilton as seamstress and teacher, having taught adult sewing courses at the HWDSB and at Mohawk College for over 20 years. Marian had a particular passion for creating custom bride and bridal party dresses, a low estimate would be she made over 500. She invested many, many hours hand crafting each dress, ensuring all ‘her brides’ felt particularly special on their wedding day.
Marian will be remembered for her warm welcoming personality and for loving her family deeply. She will be missed.
Cremation has taken place. Interment and Celebration of Life to be held at a future date. Please make donations to a charity/organization of your choosing.
