Bellissimo, Maria Antonia
Maria Antonia Bellissimo died surrounded by her children at Grand River Hospital on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the age of 88.
She was born in Delianouva, Italy on July 18, 1935. She immigrated to Canada in September, 1954 and resided in Cambridge, Ontario. She is now reunited with her husband of 60 years, Giovanni, and her son Nazareno.
Cherished by her dear children Carmen Bellissimo, Maria (Erik Vander Ahe), and Gelsomina (JP Marini). Proud Nonna of Alisha, Jasmine, Kristen, Bianca and Cristiano. Maria Antonia is survived by her siblings John Paplia (Rose), Rosa (Salverio Italiano), Anna (the late Rocco Buda) and the late Salvatore Paplia (Antonia). She is predeceased by her loving parents Nazarendo and Gelsomina Paplia.
Survived by her sisters-in-law Lina Bellissimo and Antonia Monterosso. Predeceased by her in-laws Carmen, Maria, Dominic, Vincenzo, Angelo and Santina. Cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews, and will be missed by many friends.
Visitation will take place on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, 19 Flamingo Dr., Elmira. Entombment to follow at Marymount Cemetery, 5400 Sideroad 6 S, Guelph, with a reception to follow at 35 Finoro Cres., Elmira.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation through the funeral home.
