Obituary of Margaret Aleda Stevens
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Margaret Aleda (Caldwell) Stevens, BN, RN, announce her passing which occurred on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born on July 24, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Aleda (Bergquist) Caldwell.
Marg was in the first graduating class of the Bachelor of Nursing Degree at UNB Fredericton in 1963. Marg was an avid quilter and enjoyed traveling, especially to Ireland, Scotland, and many winters in Victoria, BC.
Marg is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, George Stevens of Saint John, NB; children: Monica Johnston (Keith) of Saint John, NB, William Stevens (Lisa Porlier) of Toronto, ON, and Karen Stevens of Moncton, NB; grandchildren: Nicole Johnston (Taylor Coady), Andrea Johnston, Heather Johnston, Luke Stevens and Ellie Stevens; great-granddaughter Clara Coady; sister Mary Ellen MacCallum (Wayne) of Victoria, BC; as well as niece Catherine, nephew David and extended family. In addition to her parents, Marg was predeceased by her brother Bobby Caldwell and infant sister.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 10:30AM from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 22 Church St., Hampton, NB. A private family interment will follow at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery, Hampton, NB.
