It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving Mom, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend on March 22, 2023, at age 77.
She was predeceased by her husband Dennis; mother (Mary Anne Goodall), father (Gorden Hovenecamp), and brother (Leon Hovencamp).
Leaving to mourn; Children: Jay (Tammy), Gabrielle (Jim), Danielle (Tommy), twin sister (Patsy) and her cousin (more like a brother) (Robert) and his fantastic wife/friend to mom (Mary) and their children Catherine and Sean.
Eight Grandchildren; Courtney, Hannah, Hillary, Jessica, Jacob, Anna, Haley, and Nathan.
Special thank you to Mary Church for all you have done for her over the years.
Thank you for the loving support from her two best friends, Anne and Shirley, and her good friend and caring neighbor Gary.
Great appreciation for the incredible staff (ER and 7-West) at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital and for the care and support shown by Dr. Sahar Iqbal. Also a big thank you to Dr. Peter Seviour for his constant attentiveness to her needs.
Born in St. John’s, mom started her career as a nursing assistant at the Janeway but took time off to focus on raising her children. Once they were teenagers, she had a career as a personal care attendant, and then as a childcare provider to Dave and Sue Squires, as well as to Robert and Mary Church. Mom was an independent and kind-hearted woman who only ever saw the good in people and opened her heart and home to all. Mom adored her children and grandchildren; feeling like she could never do enough for them by stocking her cupboards with the treats they liked, as well as sending them out the door with cash in hand. She very easily made friends wherever she went, had a vibrant personality, a flare for fashion and home décor, and she loved to shop and eat.
