The family is sad to announce the passing of our beloved mother on Saturday February 4th, 2023 in Palliative Care at the RMH in her 96th year. Daughter to the late James and Winn Whittard. Marnie was the beloved wife of the late Norman (Dick) Richards. Loving and devoted mother of Jim, Nigel, Kate McMullen (Norman) and Diane Steven (James predeceased). Cherished grandmother to Allison, Lauren, Stuart, Rory, Claudia, Gillian and Hunter. Dear sister to Marion Korman (UK) and predeceased sister Irene Hicks (UK). Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.
Marnie started life in Wimbledon, England and at the age of 19 joined the British Royal Navy as a WREN. After marrying and starting their family, Marnie and Dick boarded the liner Queen Elisabeth to start a new life in Canada. Marnie and Dick were very involved in their community and were founding members of the Bay Ridges Kinsmen and Kinettes were they made many lifelong friends. They moved to Lindsay during their snowbird years and Marnie became an avid golfer at both Lindsay and Deer Run Golf Courses and a volunteered for 20 years at the RMH. The family would like to thank the staff at Caressant Care McLaughlin and RMH Palliative Care for the care and compassion shown to Marnie and her family.
