Margaret Isabel Menegon (nee McLean) passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital on April 2, 2024. Margaret was born in Toronto on January 16, 1951 and was predeceased by her parents, Andrew James (Jim) and Isabel McLean. Margaret is survived by her brother Bill (Gloria) McLean, her son, Jason (Alison) Menegon and her two grandchildren, Amelia and Hudson.
Margaret grew up in Toronto attending Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute and following graduation attended Wellesley School of Nursing graduating as a registered nurse in 1972. She held a nursing position at Riverdale Hospital before returning to school to obtain her operating room certification at Humber College in 1988 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ryerson Polytechnic University in 1998. Margaret worked as an OR Nurse for almost three decades ending her career as charge nurse in the Gyne Oncology OR at Sunnybrook Hospital. She was a dedicated teacher and patient advocate, and she loved helping people. She was involved with Doctors Without Borders and travelled to India and Vietnam assisting with surgeries for congenital anomalies and physical deformities.
In her spare time, she was a dedicated mother and grandmother, an active member of Glenview Presbyterian Church and an avid gardener and craft enthusiast. She had a passion for travel and spent many years going to Daytona Beach and in recent years travelled to Africa on safari and island hopped in Hawaii with Jason, Alison and her beloved grandchildren.
Thank you to the Oncology teams at the Odette Centre and Princess Margaret Hospital for their tireless efforts assisting Margaret in her valiant fight against cancer.
Although she will be dearly missed by her friends and family but the memory of her will remain in our hearts forever.
A visitation will be held at Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto, on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. In memoriam, donations to Odette Cancer Centre through Sunnybrook Foundation would be appreciate by the family.
