Margaret Grace Mitchell passed peacefully at James Paton Memorial Hospital on June 10th, 2024, with her family lovingly by her side.
Born September 22nd, 1947, Marg was raised by Carmen and Joan Humphries in Cape Freels. Marg grew up with her two sisters and four brothers and graduated from Lumsden Academy in 1965. She pursued her post-secondary education and began her career in Licensed Practical Nursing at the General Hospital soon after. At this time, she met the love of her life, Irvan Mitchell. Marg and Irvan moved to Wesleyville and married in 1969. Marg worked at Brookfield Hospital as she welcomed her first born son Dennis into the world. Her two other boys, Jason & Craig, were born soon after they settled in Gander in the mid 70’s. Marg finished her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Lakeside Homes.
Marg was the most giving, loving, caring mother to her boys, and proudest grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She spent her days praising the lord, working as a nurse, and caring for her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by everyone who was blessed to have known her.
She was predeceased by her parents: Carmen & Joan Humphries; Sister: Anne Knight; Brother: Martin Humphries; Mother and Father-in-Law: Albert and Hilda Mitchell; Sister-in-Law: Margaret Humphries; Dear Friend: Shirley Granville.
Leaving to forever honour and rejoice her name is her loving husband Irvan Mitchell; Children: Dennis Mitchell (Jennifer), Jason Mitchell (Deanne), Craig Mitchell (Paula); Grandchildren: Destiny Mitchell (Nicholas), Brandon Shea, Alexandra Mitchell (Mitchell), Mackenzie Mitchell, Cassidy Mitchell (Ethan), Abigail Mitchell (Owen), Ava Mitchell, Brayden Mitchell; Special Niece: Dakota Humphries; Siblings: Ray Humphries (Joyce), Jake Humphries (Ada), Lindsay Humphries, Emma Humphries (Don); Brother-in-law: Ransey Mitchell (Judy), Paul Knight; Sister in Law: Vida Chatman (Nelson), Maleasa Mitchell (Rick), Elizabeth Humphries; as well as a large circle of extended family and friends loved dearly by Marg.
In expressions of sympathy, flowers will be accepted at Stacey’s Funeral Home.
Family will be receiving friends at Stacey’s Funeral Home in Gander on Thursday, June 13th, 2024, from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. The funeral service will take place at St. Martin’s Cathedral in Gander at 2:00pm on Friday, June 14th, 2024.
