Margaret Fleming (nee Friesen)
Peacefully on October 28, 2024, Margaret passed away at the age of 84 years.
Margaret will be sadly missed by her children Gord ( Janet ), Ron ( Betty ) and Debra ( Don ), and her grandchildren Krystina, Rebecca, Aaron, Scott, Jessica, and her great grandchild Katie. She was predeceased by her parents Gerhard “George“ and Lena Friesen.
Margaret was born on July 17, 1940 in Winnipeg and grew up in the Brooklyn area. She married David in 1956 and lived on Atlantic Avenue where they had three children before moving to St. James. She had many different jobs throughout her life, including working at the General Hospital, Canadian Tire, was a casino blackjack dealer, retail clerk at the Hudson Bay Company, and ending her working career at The Northwest Company where she met her best friend Donna. She made several trips to visit Donna during her retirement years to spend time with her.
She loved to read, play bingo, scrabble, did crossword puzzles, enjoyed going to the casinos and playing the tables and slot machines. Our Mom had the greatest sense of humour which we believed was enhanced by her watching every episode of the Johnny Carson Show.
Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. She will be laid to rest at Brookside Cemetery with her parents.
