It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving dad, brother, relative, uncle and mosom, kihew metawew maskwa (Eagle Playing Bear), Marcel Wayne Starr. Marcel was called home on Sunday, December 3, 2023. He lived a humble, respectful and honorable life. He passed peacefully in his sleep, at his home on Star Blanket Cree Nation at the age of 67 years old.
Marcel was predeceased by his paternal grandparents: Adelarde and Celina Starblanket, maternal grandparents Alexander and Margaret Nokusis. Parents Raymond and Marion Starblanket. Sisters: Joanne, Fay (Theresa), Jean and brother Robert.
He is survived by his sons Matthew (Cheyanne), Robbie, grandsons Indio (Starla), Brody. Sisters Dale, Lucie (Allan), Brenda. Brothers Chief Michael (Sonia), and Neil. Godchildren Tenelle, Skyler (Venee). Neice’s Amanda (John), Crystal, Denni (Harley), Jade, Kara ( ), Catherine, Sharla, and Violet. Nephews Trevor (Angela), Gage (Kirsten), Evin, Adam ( ), Nathan, RJ and Johnathon. Marcel is also survived by numerous grandchildren.
Wake will be held at the White Calf gymnasium on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 starting at 3 pm. Funeral Service will be held Thursday December 7, 2023 at 11 am. Interment Star Blanket Cree Nation cemetery.
The family would like to thank first responders Fort Qu’Appelle EMS, File Hills Police Services, relative Murray Starr, Jordan Starr and Tara Starr.
