Obituary
Our hearts are broken by the sudden but peaceful passing of our loving Mom, Madeline Cahill (age 86) of Point La Haye, St. Mary’s Bay at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, St. John’s on June 16, 2023.
Predeceased by her husband of 64 years Michael Cahill (November 7, 2022), her parents James & Ellen Yetman, parents-in-law Francis & Elizabeth Cahill, her sisters: Marie (Bill Wonders), Mary (Bill Rogers), Josephine (Vince Power), Theresa (John Ford), Violet (Alec Bryne), her brothers: Willie (Rita) Yetman, Bernard (Marg) Yetman, John (Hilda) Yetman, and Jimmy Yetman, her sisters-in-law: Josephine (Sylvester) Fagan and Uriel (Larry) Fagan and all other members of the Yetman and Cahill families.
Leaving to mourn are her children: Patsy (Ronnie), Gerry (Irene),Sharon (Donnie), Michael (Susan) and Jimmy (Bev), her grandchildren: Christopher (Krista), Matthew, Amanda, Justin (Meagan), Gillian, Brady, Brandon, April (Ryan), Kaitlyn (Yaw) and Michael (Kathleen), her darling great-granddaughter Olivia who was so precious to her, her sisters: Catherine (John d.) Cahill, Mercedes (Kevin d.) Critch and her brother Anthony Yetman (Mary), her sisters-in-law: Anita (Pad d.), Betty (Lawrence), Marg (Hilary), Geraldine (Frank d.) and Anne (Adrian d.) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, especially her two fur babies Hobo and Trixie. Also leaving to mourn is her life-long best friend and companion, Belle Kielly, who was another sister to her. You were not sisters by birth, but we have known from the start that God put you two together to be sisters-in-heart.
A very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Thomas McGarry for all his home visits and for being just a phone call away when needed, to Todd and staff of St. Mary’s Pharmacy and to Gibbons’ Ambulance Service and Funeral Home for their care and support.
Resting at Gibbons’ Funeral Home, St. Mary’s, on Tuesday, June 20, from 6:00 -9:00pm (for family only) and Wednesday, June 21, from 12:00-8:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 22, at 2:00pm, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, St. Mary’s. Burial to follow. Since Mom and Dad dearly loved their animals and pets, donations in Madeline’s memory may be made to the family, to be given to the SPCA.
