It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Madeleine Lalonde on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the age of 94 at Cornwall Community Hospital, previously of Chateau Cornwall. Predeceased by her husband Lionel A. (Pat) Lalonde and by her son Martin. Also predeceased by her parents Anthony J. and Rachel Viau (née Tobin) and by her siblings Elaine MacDonald, Anthony Viau and Norma Carreau. She was the cherished mother of Patricia Lynn Lalonde and Lloyd Lalonde (Karen McMillan). Loving grandmother of Pierre Chevrier (Su), Andre Chevrier (Hien), Brittany Tardif (Matthew Cooblal) and Nicholas Tardif. Adored great grandmother of Coco and Lola Chevrier and soon to be great granddaughter Charlee Cooblal. Madeleine was the founder/owner of A-1 Driving School and enjoyed over 35 years teaching drivers education to the people of Cornwall and surrounding areas. She was most proud of being the first female in a male dominated profession. The family would like to thank the staff of Chateau Cornwall for the loving care Madeleine received this last year. We are also grateful for the exceptional care she received at the Cornwall Community Hospital.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street (613-938-3888) where visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26th, from 7-9 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral on Wednesday, March 27th at 11 a.m. Rite of Committal will take place at a later date at St. Columban’s Cemetery. If so desired, contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family. Messages of condolences may be left at www.wilsonfuneralhome.ca
