Lynn Roberta LaBranche (nee Brown) passed into the loving arms of God on February 12, 2024 at the age of 83. Loving wife to Bud LaBranche for 61 years. Proud mother of Kathleen Westlake (Mark Caron), Bill & Rachelle LaBranche, Karen & Tibor Varga, and Suzanne LaBranche (1968). Devoted grandmother to Samantha (Logan) Westlake-Hart, Connor LaBranche, and Abby LaBranche.
Cherished sister of Marcia (Karl) Lape, Randy (Liz) Brown, and is predeceased by her brother Greg Brown (1971). Aunt to Jeff Brown and Alan Brown. Special friend to the Westlake family.
Lynn was retired from a teaching career with the Windsor-Es Catholic District School Board, where she touched the lives of countless students, instilling in them the love of reading. As an avid reader herself, she created the Be Enthusiastic About Reading (BEAR) program for her classroom. She was the founder of the Windsor-Es Church Library Association (WECLA), and a long-time volunteer with church libraries.
Lynn spent many hours helping her husband, Bud, with the Sunparlour Woodcarvers Club in the 1980s, organizing meetings and helping to plan overseas woodcarving tours. In their retirement years, Lynn and Bud loved to travel, visiting countries in Europe and Asia.
Lynn’s faith was a central point in her life. As a dedicated Salvation Army Red Kettle volunteer, Lynn enjoyed ringing the bells decked out in her Christmas sweater finery. She was an avid gardener and never passed up an opportunity to help her family with their bedding plants and landscaping.
Even as her health declined, Lynn was always happy and pleasant to everyone with whom she came in contact. She enjoyed making funny statements to the nurses and PSWs while they cared for her. Lynn will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly through the lives she touched, the knowledge she imparted, and the love she shared. May she rest in eternal peace.
A heartfelt thank you to the devoted and supportive staff and medical team at Amica Riverside, and the many PSWs who treated her with the utmost care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Salvation Army or Alzheimer Society of Windsor-Es County in Lynn’s honor, as a tribute to her unwavering commitment to helping others.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday February 16, 2024 from 2pm till 5 pm at Families First Lauzon – 1065 Lauzon Road and then again from 7 pm until the time of Lynn’s Celebration of Life Service at 8 p.m.
