It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father and “Grampy”, Lyle Willard Ellingson on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
Lyle was predeceased by his father and mother Roy and Anne Ellingson; sister Sandra Cleasby; and 3 infant siblings.
He is survived by siblings Arlene Selte, Dorene Deschambault, Marlis (Luke) Periard, Rodney (Carol) Ellingson, and Randy Ellingson; brother-in-law Al Cleasby; partner Brenda Selensky; sons Wade and Jeff (Aileen); stepchildren Leonard (Felicia), Patrick (Sophie), Kellen (Amanda), Corey (Desiree), Katie (Josh), Beckah (Steve); 15 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lyle was born December 23, 1953 in Gladmar, SK. As a young boy he helped doing chores in the hog barns and around the farm. He started fishing with his dad and later shared a love of the sport and time on the water with his fishing buddy and son Jeff. After completing grade 12 he started his career and moved to Estevan in 1978. Later the family moved to Regina and Lyle started a position with Do-All Floors where he worked until proudly receiving a beautiful retirement watch engraved with his name and 20 years of service.
Retirement didn’t slow him down. Lyle was a person who would help anyone in need with projects from vehicle repairs to household moves and roofing. A skilled woodworker, he even built a fine Japanese harp with Wade that received top marks.
In his later years he enjoyed his stepchildren and many grandchildren. He was happy to have spent time living and laughing with them, attending graduations, weddings, baptisms, teaching them handy skills and beating them at cribbage. His heart and home were always open.
Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave. Regina, SK on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Lyle will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
