It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Lydia Feser of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Lydia passed away on August 11, 2023 with her children by her side at Hogarth Riverview Manor. Fortunate are we, for we recently celebrated her 90th birthday on August 3rd.
Lydia was born and raised in Fort William and married to her loving husband, Harry Feser. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she cherished her family above all else. Lydia was a stay at home mom where she created a haven of love and laughter, where stories were shared and memories were made. After her children had grown up, Mom took on a part-time role at Canadian Tire, specifically in the sports department. She enjoyed baking, cleaning, camping, finding a good sale, playing cards and backgammon while spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, Dianne Joy (Paul), Lorraine Baird (Bob), Jim Feser (Anne), and son-in-law Bob McEwan, grandmother of Laurie-Ann Foster (Shannon), Tara Sutherland (Scott), Kory McEwan, Ryan Baird (Kathleen), Tessa Kell (Trevor), Cameron Feser (Ashley) and a great grandmother to nine. She is also survived by brother-in-law Ralph Feser (Lynn), sister-in-law Agnes Halerewich (Joe), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lydia was predeceased by her husband Harry Feser, daughter Darlene McEwan and grandson Scott McEwan as well as her parents Galiano and Emma Brunetti; brothers John and Gino. There is much comfort in knowing that they are all reunited.
Mom spent the last eight years at Hogarth Riverview Manor. There she enjoyed crafts, baking, bingo and sing-a-longs. During her time there Mom was very well taken care of by the staff of Birch Grove. We would like to send a sincere thank you to the RN’s, the RPN’s, the PSW’s, RH’s, Rec, housekeeping, and the kitchen staff, as well as the fellow residents and their families for taking such good care of our mother and making sure her every need was met. You made Lydia’s time and her family’s lives all the better.
Her life was our blessing and she will never be forgotten. As we say goodbye to Lydia, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives and the lessons she imparted to us all.
Cremation has taken place, and as per her request there will be no public funeral service, a private family interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay.
