On July 6, 2024, Luz Salamanca Floresca’s journey came to an end a few days shy of her 80th birthday. Born in Mayantoc, Tarlac, Philippines on July 10th 1944.
She was born in Mayantoc, Tarlac, Philippines Daughter of the late Mercedes Valdez and Eduardo Salamanca. She studied nursing and came to Windsor, Ontario in the late 1960s. Spending most of her career working in Detroit, Michigan. She was a daughter, sister, friend, student, immigrant, citizen and a wife and mother. She was all those things but so much more. She leaves behind her Husband Ernesto Floresca, her 2 boys Erwin and Eric and a large extended family.
A heartfelt thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at Metropolitan Hospital’s oncology department for taking care of Luz during her time of need. The Windsor/Es Hospice and Bayshore Healthcare who helped the family navigate palliative care, easing her way to the next world. Luz leaves behind her sisters Olivia Abbott, Araceli Bunagan, and the Widow Merly Espiritu of her brother Dr. Manuel Salamanca and 3 generations of family and friends that miss her dearly. We would like to thank Manuel and Erlita Floresca, Zacio and Ellen Bunagan, Norma Ragasa and countless others for their support. To them and all our friends and neighbours who came to visit her in recent days. Thanks to those praying for her on the 9 days after death. It lights her way home to God.
Her faith was quiet, having no needing to proclaim it from the rooftops but she always had her rosary at hand. She prayed anyone in need, always willing to give a helping hand without question. She was so fragile near the end but had an immense strength. She handled so much pain, over these past few months. When she became a prisoner of her body, we all knew it was God calling her home. Her family has become one person smaller, but she lives in every memory made with those she knew and touched. Be it through a laugh, cry, helping hand and or a prayer. Heaven’s guardian angels have added one more to their ranks, who will watch over us, until we meet again.

On Wednesday July 10, 2024 visitation will take place at 1065 Lauzon Rd, East Windsor from 2-5 and 7-9 PM with prayers taking place at 7:30 PM. On Thursday visiting will resume at Our Lady of Atonement Church 2940 Forest Glade Dr. Windsor, from 9:30 AM until time of funeral mass at 10:30 AM. Burial to follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery.
