Brad was born in Kitchener on March 9, 1947, to parents Roy and Marieta Luelo.
He is survived by two daughters, Tara Gineen Pedersen (Mark) and Tory Rachelle Luelo (Steve Lawrenson) as well as 4 grandchildren, Marley and Myles Pedersen and Jackson and Noah Lawrenson, and one step grandson, Karsen Lawrenson.
Also surviving Brad are sisters, Sandra Dianne Kneller of Waterloo, Merilyn Flowers (John White) of North Ft. Myers, Fla. and sister-in-law, Doreen Lunn (Ray) of Shedden Ont.
Brad is predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Rosemary Ellen and both his parents.
Brad and Ellen resided in the Stonecroft Community of New Hamburg and previously lived in Forest Heights, Kitchener (33 years) and Elmira (2 years).
Brad was involved with education for 32 years and enjoyed teaching thoroughly before retiring in the year 2000. Ellen followed in 2001 and together they spent many rewarding years cruising the globe before illness dealt them an unexpected turn. Ellen fought a 14-year battle with breast cancer and shortly thereafter, Brad himself was diagnosed with two different forms of blood cancer.
Family and friends supported them throughout their illness and deserve so much of our family’s gratitude. The list of friends, neighbours and career colleagues is too many to list, but please know how appreciated you all were in the lives of Brad and Ellen.
Brad was always the life of the party and loved telling corny jokes. He could usually be found on the porch talking to all that passed by. He and Ellen loved planning social and community events. Brad was an avid golfer, loved hosting dinner parties and playing cards with his friends.
Lastly, but most importantly, was family. Both Ellen and Brad lived for their kids and grandkids. They were both so heavily involved and invested in all of their lives. Together, they have shared successes and failures and through it all, they maintained a strong bond of support and mutual love.
A Celebration of Life will occur on Wednesday June 26, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Stonecroft Recreation Centre, 156 Stonecroft Way, New Hamburg. An internment service will occur in the fall, date to be determined at Riverside Cemetery New Hamburg.
