Obituary
Passed away at home with her daughter by her side on June 25, 2023 at the age of 85. She was predeceased by her husband Francis Robert Flannigan. Daughter of the Late James Granter and Mary Granter (nee Spurrell). Loving mother of the Late Flynn Flannigan (Carolyn), Michael Flannigan and Susan Campbell. Cherished grandmother of Christina Whyte (Mike), Caileigh Flannigan (Kyle), Amanda Robb, Flynn Flannigan and Cody Campbell (Harmony). Fondly remembered by great grandchildren Kayden Whyte, Kendra Whyte, Oliver Robb, Owen Robb and Carson Campbell. Remembered by brothers Jimmy Granter and Tony Granter (Linda). Predeceased by sister Cynthia Hurley.
Lucy was born and raised in Brookfield, Newfoundland. She married and traveled overseas to begin family life with her beloved husband in the Royal Canadian Air Force. After years of traveling Lucy desired a permanent home life and because of this, she settled in Cobourg, Ontario with her husband’s family. Lucy was commonly known as “Eileen” to many friends and family members. Lucy traveled back to Newfoundland many times in good company with her daughter, Sue. Lucy worked for Kraft General Foods for 27 years and always talked about those years fondly. She shared many memories about her lovely coworkers and especially those she called “The New Hires”. Lucy retired from Kraft General Foods at the age of 59 and was able to enjoy many years with her children and grandchildren. She was the moral compass in our lives and we are forever grateful for the many sacrifices she made for our family. Lucy was a very strong and proud woman and we were blessed to call her “Mom”. She is now at peace with her first born son Flynn, for after his death, she was never the same.
A Graveside Service will be held on July 14, 2023 at Union Cemetery in Cobourg at 1:00PM followed by a reception at 2;00PM at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn & Convention Centre (930 Burnham Street, Cobourg Ontario) in the Northumberland Room.
