Lucinda Jessup Obituary
Won’t rest my head ‘til they’re all in bed.
Lucinda was born on August 25, 1925 in Brudenell Township, to her parents Rachelle Jessup and Charles Hartwick and was a sibling to Gladys, Margaret, Hazel, Willard, Gordon and Shelby. She grew up on the family farm in Letterkenny before marrying Harold Jessup on May 10, 1944. Together they had four children; Stanley, Verna, Morley and a baby girl who passed away at birth. Lucinda had eight grandchildren; Annette, Corey, Michelle, Vicki, Shelley, Colette, Yvette and Duane. She also had five great-grandchildren; Hannah, Caitlin, Jack, Jonathan and Marlo.
Lucinda was the true definition of a farmer’s wife, always making sure there was food on the table for when her husband Harold or any farm hands came in from the fields. In fact, any helpers during hay season would share that they never came for the money but for the home-cooked meals always ready and waiting during a hard day’s work. Lucinda was always baking bread, preserving foods or making sweets for anyone that would walk through the open door of her and Harold’s home.
Lucinda never shied away from the ongoing demands of farm life; if she was not in the home you would find her in black rubber boots helping Harold tending to chores like pulling in bales of hay from the field with the truck or tractor. If she was not up at the you could find her with Harold caring for their family campground on the Madawaska River.
From a young age, farming was in Lucinda’s blood. She would share stories from when she was young, caring for all the animals on her farm in Letterkenny. Lucinda even had her own team of horses, Pearl and Barney that she used for working on the homestead with her father.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses of St. Francis Memorial Hospital, all the team at Bayshore Home Care Solutions, Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care and Jen Juhasz for their round the clock care.
