Lucille Katherine Arnold
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lucille (age 76) on Sunday May 17, 2020. She survived by her husband Walter David and sons; Gary (Tracey), Chris and daughter Jennifer (Lee). Also survived by her sister Gwen (Terry) and grandchildren; Haley, Alexis, Jasmine, Sydney, Cory and Dannon. Lucille was a loving Cousin and Auntie to her many nieces (great) and nephews (great). Predeceased was her parents; Emmaline Stephenson and Gabriel Nabess, brothers Jack and Kenny and sister Louise (Stan) and nephews Wayne and Ronald.
Lucille was born and raised in the North, living in Wabowden, Thompson and The Pas. As a child she enjoyed skating, often referring to herself as young Barbara Ann Scott. Lucille was a skilled hairdresser and gave many family members a trim or a “Toni”. She was a fantastic baker and cook known for her famous buns, pies, perogies and desserts. She also knitted many handmade sweaters, and afghans. Lucille loved to take long walks, and was a country music fan who hummed and danced and gave good back scratches and hosted many weekend sleepover with her grandchildren. She was a kind person and active in the community. She attained her social work degree and worked in many positions, but always supporting people. Her early employment began at the Hudson Bay store in Wabowden, but she would go on to work at CFS, Winnipeg high school, daycare, respite care and her last position was at the workplace in The Pas. Lucille was an active person, often working two jobs and still found time to spend with her grandchildren and family. Shortly after retirement, Lucille and Dave lived for a year in Comox, BC taking care of and organizing her sister in-law, Virginia’s end of life plans. Lucille always gave everything of herself unselfishly. She was bright spirited, easy going, fun and a kind soul who is irreplaceable. Her family was most important to her and she was the constant support and rock to her children.
Lucille spent her final years at St. Paul personal care home and the family would like to thank the staff for her care with special recognition to Elma Campbell who showed compassion and patience in the same way as how Lucille had always treated others. If family and friends so choose, donations in memory of Lucille can be made to the Alzheimer’s society. We love you Lucille, mom, and granny; we will always remember how loved, and good you made us and others feel.
