With sadness in our hearts, the family of Lucy Grob (nee Seida) announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, Oma, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, godmother and guardian angel on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the age of 79 years. Her faith was strong, and she fought hard to wait for her daughter, Leslie and son-in-law, John from Australia before passing away peacefully in hospital with family by her side.
Lucy was predeceased by her parents, Leokadia (Katie) and Otto Seida; brothers, Arnold Seida, Mircea (Mickey), Stalion (Titos) Ceahorianu and Horst Seida; sister-in-law, Evelyn Seida; brother-in-law, Victor Neiser; and in-laws, Konrad and Magdalena Grob. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Philip (Phil); children, Michael (Dana MacNeill) and Leslie (John Della Posta); grandchildren, Nicholas (Salan) and Haley (Tanner); brother, Otto Seida; sisters, Alma Neiser, Hilda Gamble (Ron) and Ingrid Appel (Mervin); sisters-in-law, Eva Ceahorianu, Isobel Seida, Elisabeth Hugel (Brian), Theresa Grob and Katherine (Guy) Brocks; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Lucy was born in Aalborg, Denmark on September 14, 1945. In August 1948, her family immigrated to Canada and settled first in Assiniboia, and then moved to Regina in 1952. Upon completing school in Regina, Lucy married the love of her life, Phil Grob, on November 9, 1963, and started a family soon after. Lucy spent most of her career advocating for injured workers. Her motto was “never waste a moment”. Lucy kept busy through her love of knitting and crocheting scrubbies, gardening, cooking, baking and playing bridge. She had her own ‘meals on wheels’ by sharing the amazing food she prepared for many.
Over the years, Lucy travelled the world with Leslie and in retirement, became a “snowbird” with Phil, primarily in Arizona and Texas. She also enjoyed family time at Mike and Dana’s cottage. Lucy’s outgoing personality enriched her life further with the ‘adoption’ of many more families who became an integral part of her family life. When Lucy became ill, her goal was to attend her grandson Nicholas’ wedding in September 2024. She reached that goal. She truly was a remarkable woman whose love, kindness and generosity touched the lives of everyone around her.
The family would like to express gratitude to Lucy’s friends, Wendy and Carol, during her illnesses and for the extraordinary care that Lucy received at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre.
A Celebration of Lucy’s Life will be held at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 3239 Garnet St., Regina, SK, on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with the eulogy, photo tribute and reception to follow in the church hall. A private interment will follow. The service will be livestreamed.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, www.cancerfoundationsask.ca, and designate to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre – Patient Care and Comfort or to a charity of your choice.
