Lucia Philiberta Maria Theresa Bogisch (née Roelof) passed away peacefully on December 20th in Napanee, Ontario, after a remarkable battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Velp, Netherlands, Lucia( Lucy) was the middle of five daughters (Cor, Annie, Ria, and Cecile) to Lucia and Gerard Roelofs. Lucy was the heart of her home and family, raising her two children, Ilonka and Michael, in a loving environment. She was married to Bernard (Ben) for 55 years until his passing. As Oma to Scott, Gabrielle, and daughter-in-law Sarah, Lucy was affectionately known as the «Adorable Dutch Oma» for her mischievous adventures and competitive spirit in the card game «JOKER.» Christmas was her favorite time of the year, and she made it magical.
Lucy is survived by her sisters Cor and Cecile, and predeceased by her sisters Annie and Ria, and her husband Ben. Lucy’s kind heart was evident in her charitable donations and willingness to help friends in need. She was the soul of her family and will be dearly missed. Per her wishes, there will be no formal services. Instead, she wished her loved ones to share a laugh and raise a glass to celebrate her next journey.
