Louise Sandercock Obituary
On Monday September 9th, 2024, Louise Sandercock (nee: Harry) passed peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded, as she was in life, by her loving family. She is survived by her partner Warren Kennedy; her children Charlie (Melanie); Jessica (Chase), Ben (Riley), Jamie (Carlee) and granddaughters Emily, Sawyer, Ruby, Quinn, Libby and Avery as well as her extended family and an abundance of friends who will all miss her more than words can say. Louise was so proud of her family and we all cherish the stories we can share with them to keep her memory alive, although some details may have to wait till the granddaughters are a bit older.
Born Mary Louise on February 4, 1962, to Everett and Marilyn Harry (nee: Hollinger), she enjoyed life on the farm in Johnstown with her sister Lynda and brother Mikel along with her grandparents, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends nearby.
Louise married Jim Sandercock, living on the farm and raising their most important crop – 4 great kids. Through milking and harvesting, morning hockey practices and dance recitals, church dinners and plowing matches, Louise put her heart, soul and energy into supporting her family and her community. She was committed to helping others, and doing what was needed with her unique indomitable spirit and humour.
Later, Louise returned to school studying Hotel Restaurant Management at Loyalist College and embarked on a new career in hospitality before becoming Leasing Manager at Seasons aiding people as they transitioned to retirement living which she described it as ‘an amazing, rewarding experience that does not equate to work’. She had one more career change to make though. This time to real estate agent, a role that truly combined her rapport with people, personal drive, desire to help others and knowledge of the area. In her relatively short time at John Barry Realty, she received numerous accolades for the service she provided to families finding their own dream home.
Louise combined a busy family, career and personal life, not to mention golfing schedule but always made time for playing with her granddaughters, supporting the ’57 Race Teem’, traveling, playing cards and just relaxing at home with Warren or a good book. She also never lost sight of her passion to give back to others by volunteering with several community groups, most notably the Trenton Hospital Memorial Foundation (THMF) and the Kiwanis Club of Trenton where she was beyond proud to be initiated as the 1st female member and serving as their 1st female president.
The Facetime, phone calls, letters, cards, and visits Louise received during the final weeks of her life were a tremendous source of joy, peace, and comfort. Messages of love and support spoke of the lasting impact Louise had on others – her strength, determination, humour, joy of life and most notably her commitment to family and friends. Louise spent her final weeks as she spent her life – splitting her time between loving and laughing with those closest to her and organizing all and sundry to ensure things went according to her plan. She wished everyone to know that she was at peace, free from pain and above all that her heart was full of love and gratitude for her family, her friends and the life she had lived.
Louise’s lasting legacy is one of family devotion, friendship, community service, and living life with joy and purpose. It will forever remind us that we control our attitudes in times of triumph as well as hardship and to choose a life of meaning and gratitude. So please go and do something that brings you real joy, share it with those around you, and raise a glass to Louise, as she is relaxing in the sun on her own 19th hole.
Visitation will be held at WEAVER – West, 170 Dundas St West, Trenton on Thursday September 12th, 2024 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8pm. Funeral Service will be held at Westminster United Church, 1199 Wallbridge Loyalist Rd. on Friday September 13th, 2024 at 2:30 pm. As part of Louise’s planning, she is requesting everyone to attend The Grand Banquet Hall, 70 Harder Drive, Belleville after the funeral service from 4-8pm to toast and honour her life. A private interment will be held at Whites Cemetery. Louise’s service will be recorded and uploaded to the Weaver website within a few days of her service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Trenton Kiwanis Club (cheques and credit card only) or a charity that is close to your own heart. Online condolences at www.weaverfuneralhomes.com
